The Community of Practice (CoP) is a two-year collective learning and innovation initiative focused on transforming the mental health ecosystem in Ireland through a systems change approach. It brings together a diverse network of stakeholders—including NGOs, funders, public agencies, academia, and community organizations—to build shared knowledge, foster collaboration, and co-create new mental health solutions. The CoP is structured around the following pillars: Systems Mapping Participants identify and visually map key stakeholders and initiatives within the mental health ecosystem. This process reveals interconnections, power dynamics, duplication of efforts, and gaps, enabling the group to collectively understand the structure and potential of the system. Deep Listening Through short interviews and narrative analysis, the CoP captures the lived experiences and perceptions of various actors and beneficiaries. These narratives help surface underlying cultural dynamics and needs not typically visible through quantitative data alone. Collective Sensemaking The CoP hosts regular workshops to interpret the collected data, refine its shared understanding, and validate patterns with the community. These sessions strengthen legitimacy and ensure alignment with real-world experiences. Co-Creation of Solutions Based on the systems map and listening insights, participants co-design a portfolio of pilot initiatives. These experiments test scalable solutions across different levels—community, regulatory, public-private—and are managed through an adaptive, portfolio-based approach.
